Montréal, April 15, 2019 Videotron is pleased to make its first appearance on the Canada's Greenest Employers list. The 2019 winners were announced today by Mediacorp Canada. Every year, the distinction is awarded to some 70 businesses that have made green initiatives and environmental awareness part of their corporate culture.
The designation recognizes, among other things, Videotron's efforts to preserve natural resources, support the fight against climate change and manage waste responsibly. With the help of its employees, who are the cornerstone of its environmental strategy, Videotron is actively committed to corporate social responsibility.
At Videotron, we are proud of how our employees have supported our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our operations, says Jean-François Pruneau, President and CEO of Videotron. Whether by designing more environmentally friendly packaging, electrifying our fleet to reduce CO2 emissions, telling our customers about recycling of end-of-life electronic devices or banning plastic water bottles from our offices, we are working together to rethink our practices.
Videotron also relies on the efforts of its brigade of more than 70 committed green ambassadors who encourage environmental responsibility in all sections of our organization on a daily basis. The fruits of their efforts include:
Creation and maintenance of urban gardens by employees at three different locations
Information stands about banning water bottles and electronic waste collection
Online billing promotion coupled with support for a worthy cause, which raised $101,270 for the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation
Tree plantings, environmental fairs, environmental talks, electric car test drives
These are only a few of the green initiatives carried out by and for Videotron employees in the workplace.
