Montréal, July 8, 2005 – Vidéotron announced today that it is removing from its residential telephone service a calling plan that gave customers up to 1,000 long-distance minutes in Canada and the U.S. for $4.95 per month. Other advantageous long-distance plans, including unlimited calls in Québec for $4.95 per month, remain available. Vidéotron also offers free long-distance calling between subscribers to its residential telephone service.
The 1,000-minute plan included in our original offering, at the time of the launch of our cable telephone service in January, was dictated by the competitive environment at the time, said Manon Brouillette, Vice President, Marketing and Product Development, Consumer Division, Vidéotron. Although this plan has been cancelled, Vidéotron's residential telephone service is still the best value on the market and the best alternative to conventional telephone service.
