Montréal, June 8, 2010 Videotron is pleased to announce that it has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Just for Laughs, making it the official presenter and main sponsor of the comedy fest for the next three years. Under its association with the Festival, now in its second term, Videotron broadcasts the event and other content from the Groupe Juste pour rire exclusively on its distribution platforms.
Given the amount of original creative content that this fruitful partnership has produced in the past, Videotron naturally wanted to continue the association for an additional three years, said Claude Foisy, Vice President, Brand Management, Videotron.
This year, Videotron will again be present at the Festival sites with a number of activities. The Carrefour Vidéotron, which will be set up at a new location at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Peel from July 2 to 25, will serve as the entry point for festivalgoers. The new laser projection show will give participants a chance to express themselves and will entertain visitors to the site. The Studio Vidéotron is enriching its Triomphe au Saint-Denis activity. The videotron.com/hahaha website, the place to go for full information on the Festival, is going behind the scenes this year with MC Gilles, its new official blogger.
Laser projection: express yourself!
Videotron will present a laser projection show for the first time at the Festival: every evening from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, at the corner of Sainte-Catherine St. and Saint-Urbain St., festivalgoers will be able to project their own drawings on to the wall of Théâtre Maisonneuve and subsequently download their street art creations from videotron.com/hahaha.
STUDIO VIDÉOTRON
Triomphe au Saint-Denis featuring Rachid Badouri
This year, the Studio Vidéotron's Triomphe au Saint Denis activity will have a major new addition: Rachid Badouri. Visitors get a chance to become stand-up comics for a day and have Rachid Badouri comment on their material. Participants do their act in front of the camera. The videotape is then edited and the images are superimposed to create a video in which they appear on stage at the Théâtre St-Denis before an audience roaring with laughter, while Rachid Badouri comments on their performance from the sidelines. The up-and-coming comics will be able to download their tapes from videotron.com/hahaha and share them on social networks.
Available across Québec
Amateur comics from Matane to Val-d'Or will be able to participate in Triomphe au Saint-Denis avec Rachid Badouri from their living rooms by taping their performance themselves and using the online editing tool available on videotron.com/hahaha to produce their own montage and insert Rachid's comments.
MC Gilles blogs from the Festival
Off-beat blogger MC Gilles' humorous reports from the Festival sites will cover the fun goings-on from his unique point of view. The blog will feature challenges and there will be quite a few surprises in store for comedy buffs who follow MC Gilles' adventures online. MC Gilles's Just for Laughs blog will be available starting July 2 on videotron.com/hahaha, as well as Facebook and Twitter.
Videotron info stands and telephone booths
Festivalgoers will find full festival info at the Info-Rire Videotron stands located at the Carrefour Vidéotron and the various festival sites. Visitors will be able to turn to the knowledgeable staff to make sure they don't miss anything at the 28th edition of the Festival. There will also be a dozen Videotron telephone booths where festivalgoers will be able to make free local calls as well as long-distance calls across the province.
Exclusive content on Videotron Digital TV and Indigo
Throughout the 2010 edition, many Festival events will be broadcast exclusively on Videotron Digital TV and Indigo to allow comedy fans to enjoy galas and events from the 28th Festival in the comfort of their living room.
