Montréal, August 7, 2013 – For the third consecutive year, Videotron will offer cycling buffs thrills and chills on the hair-raising course at Place d'Youville and the rip-roaring slopes of Mont Sainte-Anne as official presenter of the Vélirium.
Throughout the Vélirium, Videotron will pull out all the stops to offer its customers and all fans of extreme stunts front-row seats to a first-class entertainment event, said Manon Brouillette, President and Chief Operating Officer of Videotron. Videotron is proud to be associated with this competition, which features top athletes from around the world and draws more than 40,000 visitors every year.
The urban event of the year
Extreme cycling fans will congregate at Place d'Youville from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 8, 2013 for Cité8, presented by Videotron. At this unique city event, the world's best athletes will wow spectators as they tackle an electrifying urban course. The competition is a silver event on the prestigious Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour (FMB). It will be broadcast on MAtv.
Then, cycling aficionados will head to Mont-Sainte-Anne for the Downhill World Cup, also presented by Videotron. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 11. Elite riders will fly through the high-speed course in less than 5 minutes. MAtv will carry the UCI Downhill World Cup (men's and women's) and Cité8 on Sunday, August 11, starting at 2:30 p.m.
Vélirium goes techno
Videotron will make sure fans don't miss any of the acrobatics of their favourite competitors with an interactive info booth, free Wi-Fi, contests and more. As Québec's entertainment and technology leader, Videotron will offer a host of activities over the long week-end at both event sites, starting with a photo contest open to all and accessible from anywhere.
Spectators can pull out their smartphones, take a live-action photo of the breathtaking feats at the Vélirium and send it using the hash tag #Monvelirium for a chance to win a mobile device, courtesy of Videotron.

Videotron will also help deliver the best possible entertainment experience for fans of extreme sports with its interactive information booth at the foot of Mont-Sainte-Anne and its mobile agents, who will be on hand to give spectators full information about the competitions and the results. Visitors to the Videotron booth will be able to surf the web on their mobile phones and tablets in comfort and free of charge, recharge their mobiles, enter the photo contest, or take in the spectacular view from the roof-top terrace.
