Videotron plans to expand its presence in Abitibi-Témiscamingue by year's end

July 11, 2019 - Press Release

Montréal, July 11, 2019 – Québec telecom leader Videotron today announced plans to offer consumers and small businesses in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region a full line of telecommunications services, including Internet, television and IP telephone service. Videotron expects to roll out its products and services by the end of 2019 and become a genuine alternative in the region.

“Videotron's arrival on the scene as a full-fledged player will give local residents access to the best on the market,” says Jean-François Pruneau, President and CEO of Videotron. “In addition to giving consumers real choice, we offer a unique customer experience and state-of-the-art products and services. I’m proud and I’m happy for the region.”

Unfortunately, Abitibi-Témiscamingue residents and small businesses have been ill-served when it comes to telecommunications because of weak competition in the local market, an abnormal situation that has persisted for years. Videotron is therefore confident that it will be able to change the telecom landscape in the region and deliver substantial benefits to the community.

Having made significant investments in facilities in Abitibi-Témiscamingue over the years, Videotron already offers mobile telephone service and specialized business services for large companies. As well, Videotron's parent company Quebecor partners with a number of signature events in the region and is a leader in local news coverage through a TVA Network affiliate that has deep roots in the community.
