Montréal, July 17, 2013 – In a major first, Videotron will bring the magic of the movies to customers' living rooms by releasing Only God Forgives (in English and French versions) on illico on July 19, 2013, the day it opens in the theatres. The movie is distributed by Les Films Séville, a subsidiary of Entertainment One.
In its 10th year of existence, illico on Demand is again breaking new ground by bringing movie buffs a one-of-a-kind, eagerly awaited film, said Isabelle Dessureault, Vice President, Content Operations and Public Affairs. Starting July 19, Videotron customers will therefore be able to watch the latest thriller from Danish director/screenwriter Nicolas Winding-Refn on illico TV (channel 900), illico.tv or illico mobile. The movie stars two big-name actors, Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott-Thomas.
Only God Forgives was an official selection at the Cannes film festival and won the top prize at the Sydney Film Festival in June, where it received rave reviews for its flawless direction and artistic cinematography.
Synopsis
Julian (Ryan Gosling), a fugitive from American justice, is in Bangkok running a Thai boxing club, which is actually a front for a drug smuggling operation.
His mother (Kristin Scott-Thomas), the head of a powerful criminal organization, arrives from the U.S. to collect the corpse of her favourite son, Billy, Julian's brother, who has been killed because he brutally murdered a young prostitute. Maddened by rage and lust for revenge, she dispatches Julian to find his killers. Julian must confront Chang (Vithaya Pansringarm), an unusual retired policeman who is revered by the other cops.
