Montréal, August 5, 2021 – From August 12 to September 12, the 5th FAR Festival des arts de ruelle will be held in alleys and atypical venues in 8 Montréal boroughs, and this year MAtv will carry the entire Festival live. The 17 days of festivities will feature multi-arts parades, street arts, shows on the Mixbus stage and a grab-bag of other performances.
The partnership with FAR fulfils MAtv’s mission as a community channel. MAtv’s coverage will let Montrealers experience the festival in real time and be part of an emerging arts event in their community.
“MAtv Montréal reflects and vibrant and vital daily lives of the city’s neighbourhoods and their residents,” says Steve Desgagné, Senior Director, MAtv. “By broadcasting local events and telling the stories of individuals and organizations, we are creating the local content that is so important to community life. We are proud to be on the ground at this edition of FAR, and to be the eyes and ears of all those who can’t be there in person.”

About FAR
FAR Festival des arts de ruelle has been mounting an eclectic program of short professional artistic performances since 2017. It is a multidisciplinary, inclusive event that goes to the core of the human experience. FAR’s goal is to decentralize culture by bringing it to the audience. Its schedule of neighbourhood performances in the naturally close-up-and-personal setting of the alleyway breaks down the barriers between artistic disciplines. The geometry, geography and history of the alley as a gathering space and place of caring make it a natural home for the arts. The FAR Festival seeks to democratize culture, make art accessible to all and promote creative, innovative emerging artists who speak to our humanity.
