February 18, 2015 - Press Release

Montréal, February 19, 2015 – In another confirmation of Club illico's status as Québec's top subscription video-on-demand service, the full second season of the police series Mensonges has garnered 250,000 viewings in barely two weeks, a record for any Québec series in Club illico's entire history.

“This level of popularity proves once more how enthusiastic audiences are about binge viewing and quality content,” commented Myrianne Collin, Videotron's Senior Vice President, Strategy & Marketing. “This latest resounding success confirms Club illico's position as the key player in subscription video-on-demand in Québec.”

Repeated success for Club illico
In an indication of the excitement about the second season of Mensonges and changing television viewing habits, Season 2 has generated twice as many Club illico viewings as did Season 1 in its first two weeks online. Driving new trends and new entertainment habits, Club illico has been at the cutting edge of quality French-language content, constantly offering its viewers the best possible entertainment experience. For two years, Club illico has occupied a key position in Québec's cultural landscape, providing its subscribers with a unique variety of new content, week after week. The second exclusive season of Mensonges joins a wide selection of new titles offered exclusively on Club illico, including the series Le Dôme, 24 heures : vivre un autre jour, Les beaux malaises and Lance et compte, all of which enjoyed instant success.

Mensonges, an original Québec series
Mensonges is produced by Sophie Deschênes of Sovimage, written by Gilles Desjardins (Musée Éden, Des crimes et des hommes) based on an original idea, and directed by Sylvain Archambault (Le Négociateur, Piché : entre ciel et terre, Les Lavigueur). Season 2 stars Fanny Malette, Éric Bruneau, Sylvain Marcel, Pierre Verville and Normand d'Amour. The homegrown series picked up three Prix Gémeaux in 2014 for its first season, including the coveted best dramatic series award.
