During the Just for Laughs Festival : 600 Videotron employees will show up at the office “just to help”

July 8, 2015 - Press Release

Montréal, July 9, 2015 – For the fourth year in a row, nearly 600 Videotron employees will pitch in to help two worthy causes, La Maison du Père and Comic Relief, by working on a Sunday evening. On July 12, they will be among the volunteers taking calls at the “Juste pour aider” telethon, organized in conjunction with the Just for Laughs / Juste pour rire Festival, presented by Videotron in association with Loto-Québec.

“As a company, we are particularly proud and moved to see so many of our employees getting involved in this way,” said Manon Brouillette, President and CEO of Videotron. “By volunteering their time and energy, they are truly embracing Videotron's mission and values, giving the best of themselves in order to give to others.”

Laughing for a good cause
In addition to being the official presenter of the Festival, Videotron will support the “Juste pour aider” telethon by providing its resources free of charge. Employees at 6 call centres – in Montréal, Québec City, Chicoutimi, Gatineau, Saint Hubert and Joliette – will be manning the phones and taking pledges.

At one of the Videotron call centres, a slew of celebrities will be on hand to take calls from donors, encourage the volunteers and support the cause. Among others, Guylaine Tremblay, Kevin Bazinet, Jean-Philippe Dion, Valérie Blais, Jason Roy-Léveillée and Sophie Faucher will drop by to lend a hand, while Josélito Michaud will be there for the entire evening.

The “Juste pour aider” telethon, hosted by Stéphan Bureau, will be carried live on TVA from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., Sunday, July 12. The proceeds will go to two organizations, La Maison du Père, which helps the homeless, and Comic Relief, which fights poverty in Africa.

Anyone who donates $45 or more will receive a DVD about 33 years of Just for Laughs. Half of the money raised will go to La Maison du Père and the other half to Comic Relief, a charity dedicated to eradicating poverty and hunger among underprivileged populations around the world, particularly in Africa.
