Montréal, December 2, 2013 – With the coming into force of the CRTc's Wireless Code, Videotron is making all the necessary changes to provide customers with the best possible experience coupled with peace of mind.
Since it entered the mobile telephone market three years ago, Videotron has striven to differentiate itself from the competition, said Manon Brouillette, President and Chief Operating Officer of Videotron. We have disrupted the market with unique service offerings tailored to our customers' needs. In a clear indication of the quality of the customer experience we offer and the close relationship between our 6,000 employees and Québec households, Videotron has been ranked Québec's most respected telecommunications company every year for the past eight years. 1
The latest technology
The Wireless Code, which comes into effect today, protects the rights of all consumers of mobile service in Canada. Videotron has been offering its customers 24-month amortization of device subsidies with no increase in monthly rates since September 2013. Videotron customers will therefore be able to upgrade their device every 24 months, with no cancellation fee, when they sign up for or renew their mobile agreement with Videotron. They will be able to enjoy the latest innovations on state-of-the-art mobile devices supported by the power of Videotron's 4G mobile network.
The Wireless Code also allows consumers to use an unlocked device on any mobile service provider's network. Therefore, customers do not have to buy their device at Videotron in order to take advantage of its 4G network and advantageous all-inclusive plans, as long as their device is compatible with Videotron's mobile network. 2
Hassle-free customer experience
To help make life easier for its customers, Videotron is also introducing new data usage policies. Data use will automatically be blocked when data overage fees reach $50 or when data roaming charges reach $100. This measure complements the numerous data usage management aids already available to Videotron customers, such as SMS alerts and the Mobile Usage app. Videotron customers can therefore surf the Web to the heart's content without worrying about the bill.
