Complete Season 2 of Mensonges available exclusively on Club illico as of today

February 3, 2015 - Press Release

Montréal, February 4, 2015 – Club illico is pleased to announce that fans of quality television programs will be able to watch the entire second season of the Québec series Mensonges on Club illico, starting today.

Top-notch thriller takes Québec by storm
In its first season, the wildly popular series logged 400,000 viewings on Club illico. It also picked up three Gémeaux awards in 2014, including the coveted best dramatic series award.

“Club illico is breaking new ground again by letting its subscribers preview season 2 of an original, high-quality French-language series,” said Manon Brouillette, President and CEO of Videotron. “The subscription video on demand service has been a resounding success. More than 180,000 subscribers are now enjoying this new way of watching movies and TV series. Club illico has become a key player on Québec's cultural scene.”

Hard not to binge watch
Season 2 of Mensonges begins with the investigation into the murder of Eugène Foucault, a.k.a Monsieur Bonbon, which extends over 10 episodes. Julie Beauchemin (Fanny Mallette), Maxime Moreli (Éric Bruneau), Bob Crépault (Sylvain Marcel) and Marcel Lévesque (Pierre Verville) are back, and Normand d'Amour, in the role of Phil Walker, the new head of the homicide squad, has joined the 50-member cast.

Mensonges is produced by Sophie Deschênes of Sovimage, written by Gilles Desjardins (Musée Éden, Des crimes et des hommes) based on an original idea, and directed by Sylvain Archambault (Le Négociateur, Piché : entre ciel et terre, Les Lavigueur).

“The series has really hit its stride in season 2,” said Ginette Viens, Vice President, Series, Documentaries and Lifestyle, at QMI Content. “I don't think people will be able to watch just one episode at a time. Each episode makes you want to go on to the next. The smart writing, the acting and the direction in season 2 are all on a par with the best foreign productions.”

Entertainment on demand
For two years, Club illico has been the place to go for entertainment, bringing its members unique, diverse content updated on a weekly basis. The preview of season 2 of Mensonges follows up on a number of other firsts on Club illico, including the television series Le Dôme, 24 heures : vivre un autre jour, Les beaux malaises and Lance et compte. The instant success of those shows on Club illico is indicative of the strong appetite for binge watching among Québec television audiences.
