Canadian first: Revolutionary illico iPad app coming for Videotron customers

June 4, 2014 - Press Release

Montréal, June 5, 2014 – Videotron today unveiled the new version of its illico app for the iPad, a Canadian first conceived and developed in Québec.

The completely revamped and transformed iPad app will change how users access television programming. The timing of its release on Videotron's 50th anniversary is particularly apt: 50 years of innovation that have made Videotron the Québec leader in entertainment and technology.

“As everyone knows, innovation is in Videotron's DNA,” said Manon Brouillette, President and CEO of Videotron. “Putting our customers in the driver's seat, anticipating their needs, adapting to their lifestyle and pace – that is our daily challenge. We put ourselves in the user's shoes in order to develop this revolutionary iPad app that provides a brand new way of accessing on-screen entertainment content.”

Customized entertainment
The illico iPad app features a customizable, intuitive interface that organizes titles by theme categories, enabling users to quickly and easily find their favourite content in the illico catalogue. Whether you're an outdoors enthusiast, a fan of detective shows or looking for a hit film to watch on Saturday night, the illico iPad app will readily adjust to your tastes and make personalized suggestions based on your frequent searches. Open it, select and enjoy!

Do you have several users sharing an iPad in your family? No problem! You can create multiple user profiles so that each member of the household will be in familiar territory as soon as they open the app. Users don't have to keep zapping until they finally find something they like: the app brings up a selection of content based on their personalized settings.

The iPad's user-friendliness meets big-screen quality
Users can cast any content – a video-on-demand title, a live television broadcast or a taped show – directly from their iPad to their television screen with a single click. Want to comment in real time while watching your favourite show? The app's ingenious system of windows lets users join the conversation on social networks (Facebook and Twitter) without switching away from their show.

illico for the iPad app also lets users view Cinoche.com and IMDb ratings or consult other online sources such as Wikipedia before choosing a film. It has never been easier to find the cream of the crop in on-screen entertainment.

Add to that a more-powerful-than-ever search tool, support for remote programming of the user's PVR even from outside the home (as with other illico platforms) and access to all the channels in the customer's TV package.

A revolution – courtesy of Videotron
illico for the iPad is the only app that allows on-demand access to the entire illico catalogue, including live TV, content stored on the PVR, illico Club, free content, paid content: all illico entertainment offerings are right there, at a glance.

The illico iPad app combines a personalized, multiscreen illico experience including both live television and on-demand content with a social experience, transforming television viewing to make it more interactive and entertaining than it has ever been.

The new version of the illico iPad app will be available soon at the Apple App Store in all parts of Québec.
