Analogue broadcasting ends on August 31, 2011 : No impact for Videotron customers

April 12, 2011 - Press Release

Montréal, April 12, 2011 — Videotron reminds its customers that they will not be affected in any way by the transition to digital television broadcasting. After the August 31, 2011 deadline set by the CRTC for the ending of analogue broadcasting across Canada, Videotron customers will continue receiving their favourite channels on the equipment they now have. They will not need to purchase a converter, a new television set or any other equipment, or subscribe to any new services.

How Videotron will offer analogue services after August 31, 2011
Videotron will convert incoming digital signals from Canadian local stations to analogue signals for its customers, just as it has been doing with American signals since the U.S. made the switchover to digital in 2009. Therefore, subscribers to Videotron's cable television services, digital or analogue, will continue receiving their television channels as usual.

In short, the transition to digital broadcasting by Canadian local television stations will have no impact on our customers because we will continue converting the digital signals to analogue.
