Regulation
As a company engaged in broadcasting, Videotron is regulated by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Whenever Videotron wishes to renew, change or acquire a broadcasting licence, CRTC rules require the company to make its request public through a period of public notice or public hearings (Rules Respecting the Procedure of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, Broadcasting Act, chap. 375, art. 6).
Designated a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) by the CRTC since 1997, Videotron owns several technical and commercial sites in Montréal, Québec City, Hull/Ottawa and Toronto.
